This challenge is designed to get us all reading a little more medieval literature in 2010. The challenge will run from January 1st to December 31st, 2010, and will be hosted by
Medieval Bookworm. Challenge genres include history, medieval literature, and historical fiction. Medieval, for simplicity of definition, will be from 500-1500, and literature from all over the world is welcome, not just western Europe. There are 3 levels:
- Peasant – Read 3 medieval books of any kind.
- Lord – Read 6 medieval books, at least one of each kind.
- King – Read 9 medieval books, at least two of each kind.
You’re not required to make a list or stick to one, but it would be fun if you did!

Do you, by any chance, have any suggestions for Medieval books? Susan Carroll's books are wonderful but they're set in the mid to late 1500's so I don't know if they count, haha. Just wondering!
Ashlee Rae- Yes, a few are:
-Katherine by Anya Seton
-A Rose for the Crown by Anne Easter Smith
-Maid Marian by Elsa Watson
-Guenevere, Queen of the Summer Country by Rosalind Miles
there are many more...if you go to Barnes & Noble's web site. You can search under fiction and set the time period you wish to find :)
Such a fun challenge! I found your blog on the Saturday Network, and I have to say that I love it! Anybody who loves anything historical (particularly Darcy) is my hero :)
Hrmmm I would certainly fail at this challenge. I wish I read more of this type of book
Hi, Muse -- Thank you for bringing this challenge to my attention! I am currently reading The Greatest Knight by E. Chadwick, and I have at least 3 Sharon Kay Penman books in my pile, so I might as well get "credit" for reading them! I'll get my post up soon.
Have a great weekend!
Thanks for the suggestions! I've never commented on here but I LOVE your blog! The layout, the posts... all of it :)
And I really like all of these challenges too.
Keep it up!
This is an interesting challenge. I have too many at the moment so I'll join vicariously through you. Good luck!
